the perfect gift!

my sister gave me the perfect gift for my birthday!
actually, she gave me 5 perfect gifts...i'll just share a few..
she found this vintage lunch box that will be perfect
just about anywhere in my house...
namely, my kitchen.  how clever is that?
the best part of the gift...is the idea behind the gift-
the project.

this is so simple, my 5 1/2 year old can do it.
{yes, i add the 1/2 because i hear it all the time and it rings in my ears}
but, i love the 1/2.
someday she won't say, i'm 13 1/2.
she'll just say, i'm going to be 14 soon.
*sniff *sniff

anyway...back to the project.

supply list:
round ball jars
glossy enamel paint
paint brush
can of clear acrylic-gloss coating

we took some big and small paint brushes
and swirled our paint all around in these ball jars.
hers actually turned out better than mine...
and i was worried about hers.  *small smirk*
 she used more paint than i did.
fyi...the more paint the better.
round 2 of trying to add more paint does not work out so well. ( ;

and ta-da!
our finished product!
i did spray the inside of the jars with a clear acrylic.
this kept the jars from feeling too sticky.
it also creates a permanent, water-resistant finish!

for christmas, we are going to use a glossy silver
and place tealights in each jar for a nice, warm glow!
i'll keep you posted...

DIY + repurpose all in one!

Paper punch heart garland

grace and light

what a fabulous repurpose idea from *grace and light*
i think i am going to put these in a jar on my desk and send them
with letters, give one to my girl when she gets a boo boo...or needs some extra
love...

vintage kitchen

coral + navy = my new love

this pair is certainly making it's way
into the popular color crowd this spring.
i thought i would squeeze in a bit of each of them into our office kitchen.
i was hoping to find a navy cuckoo clock-but, no luck yet!
if you happen to find one...message me, please!

although this kitchen will be quite simple...
{the walls will actually look a bit whiter than
what the sample shows}
...and, i've always wanted grey cabinets.
i know, strange isn't it?
they just come off so clean, calm and simple.
and who couldn't use a little more peace and calming
in their lives...especially in a busy, bustling office like ours.

this kitchen is strategically small, and did i mention cozy?
it's the kitchy kind of cozy. (:

anyway,
 i don't want to go crazy
and add too much of any one color accent...
so, i'm adding a lot of color accents -
and keeping them all on the down low.
instead of less is more-i'm going for smaller is larger???
or, something like that.
you get me, right?

thanks for stopping by-
i can't wait to show you the finished product!

52 s. main street

we moved into a new space in downtown rockford.
we love our new location.
we love our new space...
but, our new space could use some tender love!

in the next few weeks our space will feel smothered
by all the love and attention it will get.

i cannot wait!

this is the plan for the front office...

{i hope mandy, our office manager,
feels the love too!
we *heart you mandy!!}

what is on your wall?

Frames

and...we're not talking facebook here!

i want to know what
you are putting
on the walls that
surround you and your
loves.

framed photos of your dearies,
shelves filled with trinkets & trophies...
a combo of both perhaps?
subway art,
a framed piece from etsy?
wallpaper???

this little jem could cover walls in a coat closet perfectly!

aren't these picture-perfect for a playroom or a little girl's room...

and we can't forget the fellas!  ( ;
